What is Trezor Suite?
Trezor Suite is the official desktop application (and web‑enabled client) that acts as the user interface for Trezor hardware wallets. It lets you manage accounts, build and sign transactions, swap assets via integrated partners, and review device settings — all while keeping private keys offline on your Trezor device.
Before you begin
- Purchase a Trezor device (Trezor Model T or Trezor One) from the official store or authorized resellers.
- A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux with a USB port (or supported browser for web flows).
- Trezor Suite downloaded from the official Trezor website.
- A secure place to write down your recovery seed (do not store it digitally).
Security reminder: Trezor will never ask for your seed phrase. Never enter it into websites or apps.
Step 1 — Download & install Trezor Suite
- Go to the official Trezor website and download the Suite for your operating system.
- Install and open Trezor Suite. Follow the initial onboarding prompts.
- If prompted, verify the download checksum or signature for added security.
Step 2 — Initialize your Trezor device
If your device is new:
- Connect your Trezor to the computer via USB and unlock it (if required).
- In Suite, choose Create a new wallet and follow the device instructions.
- Write down the recovery seed words on the supplied card in the exact order. Store the card offline in a secure location.
- Confirm a few words when prompted to ensure accuracy.
If you already have a seed, choose the Recover wallet option and carefully enter your seed using the device's input method.
Step 3 — Add accounts in Suite
To manage funds, add accounts for the blockchains you use:
- Open the Accounts tab and select Add account.
- Pick the coin (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) and let Suite scan for addresses derived from your seed.
- Label accounts for organization (e.g., "Savings", "Trading").
You can add multiple accounts per coin to separate uses or manage privacy.
Step 4 — Receive crypto
- Select the account and click Receive.
- Suite will show a receiving address; confirm that the same address is displayed on your Trezor device screen.
- Share the confirmed address or QR code with the sender.
Always verify the address on the device to avoid malware that can substitute addresses on your computer.
Step 5 — Send crypto
- Open the account and click Send.
- Enter the recipient address and amount. Select an appropriate fee level.
- Continue to the device confirmation screen and verify the details on your Trezor before approving the signature.
Tip: For new addresses or services, send a small test amount first to confirm everything works as expected.
Swaps & partner services
Trezor Suite integrates third‑party partners to provide swapping and fiat on‑ramps. When using these services, Suite will present rate quotes, estimated slippage, and fees. Review terms and confirm each step on your Trezor device when signing.
Security best practices
- Buy devices only from official sources — avoid second‑hand units.
- Keep your recovery seed offline and in multiple secure locations if desired (consider metal backups for fire/water resilience).
- Never type or photograph your seed — physical writing is safest.
- Keep Trezor Suite and device firmware updated from official channels.
- Verify addresses and transaction details on the device before approving.
- Use a passphrase for extra protection only if you understand the tradeoffs; losing the passphrase means permanent loss of access to those hidden wallets.
Troubleshooting & tips
Device not recognized
Try a different USB cable or port, ensure the device is unlocked, and check browser permissions for WebUSB if using web flows.
Missing balances
Allow Suite to finish synchronizing. If balances still do not appear, confirm you added the correct account type and derivation path.
Seed lost
If you lose your seed but still have access to your device, create a new seed immediately and transfer funds. If both device and seed are lost, recovery is impossible.
Advanced topics
Advanced users may explore passphrases (hidden wallets), custom derivation paths, and integrations with third‑party wallets. These features can provide flexibility and extra security but add complexity — document configurations securely.
Final checklist
- Downloaded Suite from the official Trezor website
- Initialized device and securely recorded recovery seed
- Installed accounts and verified balances
- Performed a small test send/receive
- Understood and applied security best practices
